Gel Beds are now our best seller.
Gel beds are an innovation in bedding. They are similar to a standard soft sided bed in there construction but instead of an internal baffle they are supplied with a crystal gel that expands when water is added to give a superior stabilized bed system.
the advantage is you can add extra crystals to increase the stability of the bed without changing the mattress (we give you more Gel than you will need). Gel beds are supplied with a low wattage heater but as the gel itself is a great insulator they are often not used except in colder climates or in the worst of winter, we do suggest you install the heater the bed is supplied with so you have the option to use it when required. A standard waterbed heater is not recommended as they are not designed for the thicker Gel and a 100 watt heater is supplied with every bed.
It is true that a 100 watt heater will us the same amount of power to bring the bed to temprature as a 350 watt unit, but the gel itself being thick holds on to the heat better and the heaters us less power over the long term.
The beds come complete with a zip of wool cover for easy cleaning or Pillow Tops are also available.
The most common question is how to move such a bed. It's simply a matter of adding table salt to kill the gel so you can then empty and move the bed. This needs to be done 48 hours before emptying the bed. You will need to purchase replacement Gel when refilling the bed but this cost is minimal. Table salt can also be added in small quantitys to lower the thickness or the Gel if to much is added.
The Advantages are;

* Any leakage is minor due to the thickness of the Gel.

Unlike a Latex mattress Gel beds are cool in summer, warm in winter and don’t have any dust mites making them ideal for asthma and allergy sufferers. Indeed there is not another bed on the market that can be adjusted like a gel bed.

I personally have been sleeping on a gel bed for over 6 years now and have found them a great choice for comfort and stability with my partner and the heat is very therapeutic for my back injury. Gel beds are something we invented and tested for a long time prior to release and we are now happy the gel we use has no effect on the mattress vinyl over the life of the mattress and the heat is evenly distributed over the bed by the use of 2 x 100 watt heater units in the bed. I have been more than happy with the gel bed over the fiber filled system for my sleeping comfort and would recommend them.
Having said that if anyone buys a gel bed and wishes to swap to a fiber mattress instead we are happy to do so to give customers peace of mind in their choice of a Gel bed.

For two people in a bed I prefer to sell Gel Beds as a duet (twin) system as they allow each side to be adjusted separately when there are two people in the bed not only with the gel itself but also because a twin system is fitted with 2 heaters the temperature can be adjusted differently on both sides of the bed making it the most versatile bed on the market today.
